Thailand – How to travel safely

Thailand is called as “The land of Smiles” for good reasons – the people are the friendliest and most helpful you will ever see on your travels.

As such, traveling in Thailand is not the same but a lot of fun too. There are, but, some aspects to consider while traveling to Thailand that you must consider in order to make your vacation not just memorable, but happy and safe too.

General precautions

Thailand is not a dangerous destination to travel in, but, there are some small annoyances which are very common in specific places, especially Bangkok.

Taxis

Make use of the official and metered taxis which are very common throughout Bangkok and some regional centres. In locations where these taxis are not available, make use of the covered pick up vehicles called songtheows. If you are them, negotiate the fare before making your journey.

Tuk Tuks

Try to negotiate for price if you prefer to travel in taxis. Also remember to direct route to the destination.

Money and valuables

Make sure to keep the valuables in a safe place, either on a hotel safety deposit or keep yourself sagely. Never leave then in your room, when you are not there or leave your luggage unattended.

Emergencies and Tourist Assistance

Make use of the English-speaking assistance in the area you are lodging in. Also remember to check with your hotel or guidebook for contact details.
