PERIOD POVERTY FACTS …
– 1 in 10 girls in Africa alone, miss school because of period poverty.
– 50% of school-age girls in Kenya do NOT have access to sanitary products at all.
– 12% of Indians menstruating women can not afford period products.
– Only a 3rd, 31% of girls in Scotland, UK, feel comfortable asking teachers for period products in school.

SCOTLAND BECOMES FIRST COUNTRY IN THE WOLRD TO MAKE SANITARY PRODUCTS FREE!
The Scottish government voted unanimously to end period poverty in Scotland in a significant moment for gender equality.

The Scottish Parliament unanimously approved the bill brought forward by labour health spokeswoman Monica Lennon, making it a girls legal right of free access to period items such as tampons and sanitary pads.

PERIOD POVERTY FACTS …
– 1 in 10 girls in the UK have been unable to afford period products at some point in their life.
– Let’s end the stigma and shame with this natural bodily function globally
– We need education amongst girls and boys, an understanding and acceptance of periods being a natural process
– Let’s keep talking, Period!.

A SIGNIFICANT moment for gender equality!
The Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Bill was a “practical and progressive” piece of legislation, On the issue of period dignity, this is an amazing step forward and one that should be replicated globally, with Scotland leading the way, enforcing progressive change and equality.

This is an opportunity to put period poverty to the history books, if all other nations around the world can collaborate and come together to end the stigma and shame of what is a natural process for all girls and women of childbearing age, we can end this.
