Emmys 2018, like all other popular awards, also known to be the Oscars of the television world, had Hollywood celebrities bringing in all the glamour on the red carpet like every other year. The event is much awaited every year by fans looking out for their favourite stars in exclusive designs of their Emmy dress and to pick and choose who was the best dressed of the evening. Celebs, in turn, not wanting to disappoint their fans, pick out their best outfits to make a memorable appearance.

Top Chef host, Padma Lakshmi, was one amongst the many stars present at the Emmys 2018 who made her appearance in her red J. Mendel gown. She looked stunning and stole a lot of attention that evening, however, fashionistas were quick to notice that it wasn’t the first time she made an appearance in that gown. Embracing all her confidence and dignity, Padma Lakshmi herself happily announced in her Instagram post what her intention was. This conscious step would be considered a daring thing to do if you belong to the fashion world.

Padma Lakshmi’s post said that she was happy to wear the beautiful gown AGAIN. Previously, she wore it at the Vogue India Women awards in Mumbai and then now for Emmys2018. Her intention was to send a message to young fans who look up to fashion experts, telling them that it is completely okay to repeat clothes that have been made with so much effort and great fabric. It is more about sustainable fashion and carrying yourself well, rather than actually making an appearance in a completely new outfit every other time.

Her action and thought behind making this point at the Emmys is commendable, as it is much needed in the fashion world now. Like celebrities, other women and fans are also feeling the pressure to put together a brand new outfit for every event or outing, to avoid being tagged as a fashion disaster or as a boring closet. However, there have been great women in various fields breaking this norm and normalising the repetition of clothes. Princess Diana, Michelle Obama and Kate Middleton are among some of them. These designer clothes are to be treasured and have proven to be capable of making an appearance over and again.
